Currently ongoing is a task at Duke Hyperloop which is centered around the flywheel. Essentially, we now possess the ability to build our own linear induction motor (LIM). This will be the center of our powertrain for the hyperloop prototype.

However, before we build out the Hyperloop mag-lev pod, we've developed a flywheel to observe the thrust generated from the LIMs we're building.
We've used 80-20 beams for the support struct, which we're modifying to create a safe LIM mount for the system. A live model can be found here.
LIM Mount
The main reason for constructing a flywheel is to learn the mechanical output of the Linear Induction Motor (LIM) and conduct further R&D activities.
The previous team that had constructed the mount for the flywheel didn't leave behind too many specifications for the T-Slots. Therefore after much trail and error we found the correct dimensions of the hardware to mount the LIM.
